“The underbelly of fear permeates throughout like a malodorous whiff of the unthinkable…excellent writing.” Stewart Carry, Scriptwriter and Editor
Ghosts In The Glades treats the reader to a southern account of the life of Jett, a successful businessman who has had to overcome his dreadful sense of self-worth and carve a place for himself in this world while growing up with a debilitating health issue, a growth hormone deficiency, that placed him in the center of bullying nightmares growing up while at the same time, being made to feel responsible for his family losing everything in order to pay for his medical bills.
While his childhood accounts are rather uncomfortable for the reader to witness at times, the light is brought back into Jett’s story by the chance befriending of Jojo and Mags, two self-proclaimed outcasts who fit perfectly into his life and give him a sense of self-worth as well as a reprieve from being alone. He also befriends the local oddity, a man called Mr. Scroggs, who, along with a mysterious entity only referred to as Pencilman, are accused of kidnapping multiple children in their area.
Now, it’s Jett’s life that is on the line while trying to hide their secrets, because, as he had been taught, family protects each other. And, if you go against family, you yourself may become just one of the Ghosts In The Glades.
“Ghosts in the Glades is an immersive and thought-provoking read, indicative of Staci Andrea’s skill in blending emotional depth with suspenseful storytelling.” Karen Almeida, Assistant Editor, Literary Titan
About the Author
I am a married mom of two adult daughters, a son in law, and a new grandson, living in a quiet little lakeside town in Iowa, where we move softly through each other’s lives and there is no shortage of stories to tell around the bonfire, leading to endless amounts of material to use as writing prompts. After years of working as a dental assistant, ordained pastor and public health worker, I decided to rekindle my passion in life and start living again, kicking off my second half as a suspense and thriller author, letting the writing save me from what had become a very dark place in life. Now, here I am at this exciting second act. I am proud to be a new member of the International Thriller Writer’s Association, and part of their Debut Class of 2023-2024. My upcoming thriller, Ghosts in the Glades, just won the 2024 Killer Nashville Claymore Award for Best Southern Gothic, and also the 2024 Maxy Award for Best Thriller. This ride is getting fun, and it just took a pen, notebook and 46 years to get here. Life is funny like that.
